NCCCO Recertification: How Long Is It Valid and How to Renew

How long is NCCCO certification good for? Most NCCCO certifications are valid for five years. After that you must recertify to stay current.

When Should You Start?

Don't wait until the last week. NCCCO allows you to begin recertification before your expiration date, and you must meet the recertification requirements in the current handbook. Start planning several months ahead so a test-center delay doesn't leave you with an expired card.

What Does Recertification Involve?

Requirements can include an application, compliance with program policies, and passing the recertification written exam for your specialty. Check the official Candidate Handbook for the exact current rules and fees for your credential.

How to Prepare

  • Refresh your load chart skills; they fade if you don't use all chart types.
  • Review rules, signals and rigging basics.
  • Take practice questions to find weak areas.

Verifying a Certification

Employers and operators can verify certification status through the official NCCCO tools on nccco.org. Keep your card details and expiration date somewhere easy to find.
